President of the Board 2016 Annual Report

Dear Friends,

Scott J. Robinson, Esq.

I’m happy to report that Chaplain Partnership enjoyed a number of exciting accomplishments over the course of the past year. Our new Healing Services program at Fairview Hospital has exceeded everyone’s expectations and is an unqualified success. We were also able to grow our part-time palliative care position at UH Cleveland Medical Center into a full-time position and our new responsibilities overseeing PRN activities at Fairview Hospital are working well. We were also blest by the bequest of a kind benefactor. We’re financially sound and very grateful for the blessings bestowed on us.

Over the course of the past year we welcomed the Rev. Janice Green, who served for us at both Lutheran Hospital and UH Cleveland Medical Center until her husband’s job transfer to Missouri; Deaconess Robin Hughes, who serves for us at UH Elyria Medical Center; Fr. David Radzik, who is providing palliative care through University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s and MacDonald Women’s Hospitals; and the Rev. Jim Vander Schuur, who serves for us at Fairview Hospital. Welcome to you all!

Last year also provided a number of wonderful opportunities for us to visit with old friends, make new ones and to share our story. Our 8th Annual Wine Tasting Garden Party was again a great success, thanks to our generous hosts, Dr. Greg Videtic and the Rev. Chris McCann. This wonderful event just seems to get better each year. Thank you for your gracious hospitality! Our 8th Annual Brew Fest at Market Garden Brewery was also a very fun event enjoyed by all with great beers and food. Special thanks to the Ohio District Lutheran Church Extension Fund for their support! Our annual retreat for our chaplains was also very successful and we’d like to thank Pastor Don Rice and the congregation at Dover Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Dover, Ohio, for their gracious support of this event.

I’d like to ask you to join me in thanking Luisa Barone Gantt and Tammy Smith, who are completing their years of service on this Board. Thank you for your efforts on our behalf. They are greatly appreciated.

Finally, I’d like to thank our chaplains and our Administrative Staff for their tireless efforts on behalf of our ministry. Your dedication is most appreciated!

Since my term is coming to an end, I’d like to note that it was my pleasure to serve such a worthy organization and my prayer is for every continued success.
