President of the Board 2017 Annual Report

Dear Friends,

I’m happy to report that despite a tumultuous climate in health care, Chaplain Partnership continued to hold its own over the course of the past year, and despite the loss of a major contract due to system consolidation, we continued to move our ministry forward.

We were able to expand our geographical footprint into Portage County with the addition of a new client, UH Portage Medical Center, and we welcomed three new chaplains to the Chaplain Partnership family: the Rev. Beth McKee (UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital), the Rev. Mei (Jennifer) Lam (Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation) and Chaplain Glen Johnson (UH Portage Medical Center). Each of our chaplains are doing well in their new assignment and receiving high marks for their services by their respective institutional supervisors. We wish them every success!

Financially, the organization is stable thanks to sound fiscal management. We are grateful to our friends and benefactors for their support of our chaplains and our ministry.

The past year also provided a number of wonderful opportunities for us to visit with old friends, make new ones and to share our story. Our 9thAnnual Wine Tasting Garden Party was again a great success, thanks to our generous hosts, Dr. Greg Videtic and the Rev. Chris McCann. We truly are blessed by their continued gracious hospitality. This wonderful event just seems to get better each year!

Our annual retreat for our chaplains was also very successful and we’d like to thank Pastor Don Rice and the congregation at Dover Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Dover, Ohio and Centering Space in Lakewood for their continued generous support of this event.

I’d like to ask you to join me in thanking Carol Santalucia, who completed her term of service on this Board in May. Thank you, Carol, for your efforts on our behalf. They are greatly appreciated.

I’d also like to thank Judy Ziolek, who began her retirement on February 1, for many years of faithful service to CP and welcome Karen Henterly in her new role as Operations & Human Resource Manager.

Finally, I’d like to thank our Board of Directors, our chaplains, our administrative staff and the Friends of Chaplain Partnership for their tireless efforts on behalf of our ministry. Your dedication is most appreciated!

Barbara Hoekstra, President and Chair, CP Board of Directors
