Notes from the Board President

Dear Friends,

As we come to the end of another calendar year, Chaplain Partnership continues to be grateful for the blessings we experience through our ministry. With a fabulous cadre of chaplains, we continue to fulfill our mission to “bring the promise of hope, healing, wholeness and balance to persons experiencing the blessings and brokenness of human life.”

In November, we welcomed the Reverend Kate Huddelson to Chaplain Partnership to fill the role of Palliative Care Chaplain for University Hospitals. We continue to seek out opportunities to provide institutions throughout Northeast Ohio with top caliber chaplains who provide spiritual care to patients, staff and administrators. Each of our chaplains creates an environment of patient, nonjudgmental listening that helps to elevate the spiritual experience of those in their care.

Currently, the Board of Directors of Chaplain Partnership is focused on the search effort for our next Executive Director, following the retirement of Mark Laskey. The process is on-going as we seek to find the person who will lead us into the next decade. We have an active search committee and are working diligently to fill the role. In the meantime, Gina Svat and Marc Pogachar are keeping the organization moving forward, and I have stepped in to provide executive support as needed.

In mid-November, the Board of Directors along with our staff and several chaplains, gathered to undergo a visioning exercise for the organization. The experience gave us confidence that we are on the right path to develop Chaplain Partnership into a more robust and sustainable version of who we currently are, along with creating new areas of expansion.

We would not be able to do anything without the generous support of our benefactors. For everyone who has made a financial contribution, attended a fundraising event, blessed us with prayers, or provided blankets and accessories for our hospitals, please let me say a heartfelt “Thank You”. Without your support we would not be able to pursue our mission.

Megan Patton, President and Chair, CP Board of Directors
