PART-TIME PEDIATRIC PALLIATIVE CARE CHAPLAIN

Chaplain Partnership is seeking a part-time pediatric palliative care chaplain for University Hospitals Rainbow & Babies Children’s Hospital and MacDonald Women’s Hospital. Position Requirements: Graduate degree in an area related to pastoral ministry (e.g., M.Div., M.Th., etc.); completed a minimum of four units of clinical pastoral education; ordained and/or have an ecclesiastical endorsement from an appropriate source; board certified, or eligible by a recognized national chaplains’ association; experience with pediatric palliative care patients is preferred. STAFF CHAPLAIN – THE METROHEALTH SYSTEM

MetroHealth Medical System is a public, urban, Level 1 Trauma Center. MetroHealth is an integrated health system with an acute care hospital housing a Level I Adult Trauma and Burn Center, a skilled nursing facility and more than 25 locations throughout Cuyahoga County with more on the way. We are a public hospital with our main campus located in the urban setting of Cleveland, Ohio

The chaplain is a professionally-trained individual responsible for the delivery of pastoral care to patients, their loved ones, and as appropriate, staff. S/he will accomplish this through visitation; listening, spiritual assessment, guidance, advocacy for patient well-being, prayer and worship service, sacramental needs, facilitating groups and family meetings, serving as a liaison to community clergy and resources. S/he will have responsibility to ensure that religious and spiritual needs are met, regardless of faith background or religious affiliation, as part of a holistic, multidisciplinary team approach. Assists with the planning/implementation of services that provide spiritual support to the organization and community. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Theology/Divinity, Pastoral Studies, or related field from an accredited theological seminary or university.
  • Successfully completed 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) – approved training site.
  • Ordination, licensure or commissioning for ministry by a recognized religious group, a current endorsement for chaplaincy by a recognized religious group.
  • If not already Board Certified, must meet requirements to be a Board-Certified Chaplain by either the BCCI, the NACC, NAJC or a similar group, within a two-year period from time of hire.
  • Experience as a Chaplain in a health care setting.

  • Preferred: Fluency in writing, speaking and interpreting both English and Spanish.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent team work skills.
  • Excellent English oral and written skills.
  • Experience in an urban, highly diversified community preferred.

ON-CALL CHAPLAINS FOR CUYAHOGA AND LORAIN COUNTIES

Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Spiritual Care, provides spiritual care to patients, families and employees fostering spiritual resources for healing.

Job Responsibilities: Spiritual care and counseling for patients, families and employees. Other duties as assigned. Education: Masters of Divinity or equivalent. One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred. Experience: Three years of ministry experience. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Ordained and have an ecclesiastical endorsement by their respective denomination. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to climb stairs, pull, push and facilitate movement of the patient. Must have normal or correctable vision and hearing to be able to hear normal conversations. Must be within 30 minutes response time for calls (western Cuyahoga and Lorain counties) and Sunday morning coverage is a plus.
